Best AT&T Smartphones 2019

AT&T is the world’s largest telecommunications company and the second largest provider of mobile phone services. When it comes to smartphones, AT&T provides the best plans to its customers.

How Smartphones have evolved!

Smartphones have dramatically evolved in the past 6 months or so. From notches to pinhole cameras to pop-up and rotating cameras, we have seen it all. The new generation is all about getting the biggest screen to body ratio and putting in as much cameras as we possibly can on to a mobile phone. The Nokia Pureview had us startled with its multiple sensors and 5 cameras on the back. Apart from this we have seen increase in RAM in all devices reaching up to 16 GB. In screen fingerprint sensor and lightning fast facial recognition unlocking is also among the trending technologies right now. Another new addition to the smartphones is foldable screens (and boy are they expensive) introduced by Samsung and Huawei.

The AT&T Smartphones

However, AT&T only offers mobile phones and tablets by Samsung, Apple and LG along with some basic prepaid exclusive AT&T devices. With companies like Huawei and OnePlus making their mark in the market, it is our opinion that AT&T must include some (if not all) of their devices as well.

The Planet Today has put together the best AT&T smartphones of 2019 depending on their performance, features, durability, reliability and design.

1. Samsung Galaxy S10 Series

The S10+, S10 and S10E make it to the top of the list after their recent launch. In the AT&T inventory, these are the best phones you could possibly buy. All 3 devices are similar with their perfect pinhole camera designs and infinity displays. They also have similar hardware and features. The most interesting part is that Samsung has still opted to go for the 3.5 mm headphone jack on their flagship phone whereas many tech giants have now ditched the old headphone jack.  RAM sizes range from 6 GB to 12 GB whereas storage ranges from 128 GB to a whooping 1 TB. All three phones are equipped with in-screen fingerprint sensor. Screen size ranges from 5.8 inches to 6.4 inches depending on the model you choose.

2. Samsung Galaxy Note 9

After the exploding Note 7, Samsung came back strong with the Galaxy Note 8 and the even better Note 9. Almost similar to the S9 Plus, the Note 9 is Samsung’s S-pen Flagship phone that has many additional perks as compared to the S series (and a bigger screen and better design). The Note 9 is equipped with a bigger battery (4000 mAh) than the Note 8 (3300 mAh) and a dual 12 MP camera at the back, just like the S9 Plus. It comes with either 6 or 8 GB of RAM and storage capacity of 128 GB or 512 GB.

4. Apple iPhone XR, XS & XS Max

These three phones are on the best AT&T phones’ list because they beat all the flagship phones in the benchmark test when they came out back in 2018. Among the flagship phones they were able to beat were Samsung’s Note 9, Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus and One Plus 6.  All three smartphones have similar notches but vary in display size. The body of the XR is also different as it is a cheaper version of the X family. However, all three phones have the same A12 Bionic processor which is rapidly fast and have the iOS 12 built-in. The XR is equipped with a 12 MP single camera at the back and 7 MP at the front whereas XS and XS Max have 12 MP dual cameras that can capture breath taking photos. All three phones support fast charging. All three are available in 64, 128 and 256 GB built-in storage.

5. Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+

Although the Samsung Galaxy S10 has made it to the market but the S9 is still a good option if you are a little low on budget. The S9 and S9 Plus are very similar to their predecessors: the S8 and S8 Plus in design other than the fact that the fingerprint sensor has moved from the side of the camera to the bottom which made things much easier for the users (especially the plus version users). However, Samsung gave S9 and the S9 Plus some major performance tweaks. Both are equipped with Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. The S9 has 4 GB of RAM whereas S9 Plus has 6 GB RAM.

Samsung s9 & s9+

It is vital to discuss the camera changes that Samsung made in the S9 and S9 Plus. Firstly, the S9 is equipped with a single 12 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front camera. The rear camera has an interesting feature to change its aperture from main mode at f/1.5 to f/2.4 by just pressing a button.

The S9 Plus has a dual 12 MP camera. One camera has a dual aperture mode similar to the S9 whereas the secondary one has a fixed f/2.4 aperture mode. It also supports proper portrait mode in Live Focus.
