Nawaz Sharif who has been the Prime Minister of Pakistan, thrice, is declared as most corrupt leader of 2018. It is no doubt that when people come in power, they tend to misuse their power. Sharif, who had been sentenced 10 years of imprisonment by the Supreme Court of Pakistan is released from jail until further investigations.

Sharif’s declared assets were 1.6 billion rupees only, yet the ex-prime minister had actual net worth hundreds of millions of dollars. He had transferred his money abroad illegally to avoid taxes.

When the Panama Papers Leak came forth, Sharif was held accountable by the nation and the Supreme Court of Pakistan. A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) investigated upon the matter and it was found that Sharif had transferred money abroad through illegal measures.

While his daughter, Maryam Nawaz has been sentenced 7 years of imprisonment for lying about her assets, his two sons are also held accountable. However both of his sons are not returning to Pakistan. In order to escape accountability, both did not attend their mother’s funeral.

Here is the rest of the list:

  1. Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan
  2.  Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan
  3. Vladimir Putin of Russia
  4. Sigmundur David Gumnlaugsson of Iceland
  5. Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia
