EE, a Mobile network operator in Britain has officially
declared that they would be the first ones to launch 5G services in Britain.
They have declared that the service will be launched on 30th May,
2019. This service, however, would be launched in limited cities in its first
phase.
The first 6 cities where EE is to launch its first 5G
services are London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham and Manchester
later in May.
The mobile network operating company said that from
Wednesday it would be rolling out its 5G services rapidly. Also they would be
adding 100 new 5G sites on monthly basis. The next target cities for 5G service
provision are: Bristol, Coventry, Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield, Liverpool,
Hull, Leeds, Newcastle and Glasgow.
Even though there were speculations and some media reports
saying that EE would be launching its 5G services without using Huawei
technology. However, the spokesperson from the parent group of EE, BT, said that
they will go with the plan and Huawei would be providing the 5G radio
infrastructure. He also added that Huawei that been their innovative and valued
supplier.
EE also claims that with the new 5G networking, the
customers would be able to reach the most cherished milestone of one
gigabit-per-second on their 5G smartphones. The maximum speed that the
customers could enjoy with the EE 4G networking was only 50 megabits per
second.
CEO of BT’s consumer division, Marc Allera, briefed that
this is indeed a start of the UK’s journey to 5G. People of UK are to
experience great internet connectivity.
