More than four years have passed since Yemeni people are continuing to bear the brunt. They are dying every day due to the escalation of Conflict. Yemen is suffering the worst man-made humanitarian Crisis in the World. The peoples of Yemen are facing unbelievable hardships, suffering from starvation and the worst famine causing fatal diseases.
Many reports claim that more than 6,800 civilians have been killed and 10,700 people got severely injured in these years long man-made crisis. 1.2 million Yemenis are affected by Cholera. And the most heartbreaking thing reported is that nearly 85,000 children starved and pushed to death.
A few months ago UN Undersecretary-General for humanitarian affairs Marc Lowcock announced the threat of great famine engulfing Yemen during his address to the Security Council. In an assessment he said, nearly half of the population of Yemen could be in danger of Famine as they were facing the pre-famine situation at that time. UN called it the worst famine in the world in the last 100 years. Recently Stephen O’Brien UN Undersecretary-General said we are facing the largest Humanitarian Crisis since the creation of the UN.
It was reported that nearly 16 million lack access to clean drinking water and sanitation. 8.4 million People are facing the pre-starvation situation. 3.3 million are suffering from acute malnutrition which includes more than 400,000 children.
The children are deprived of education. Widespread violence has collapsed public institutions and large scale infrastructure. It has caused a serious protection crisis and the decline in the national economy. People are being attacked by fatal diseases. Access to food, water, and medicine is very limited.
MAA’S Muslim AID Australia is to support, aid and relief for the Yemeni people. MAA includes essential food packs for starving Yemenis, clean and pure drinking water, and health centers and medicines.
